Achievement House Charter School
Achievement House Charter School (AHCS), a virtual public high
school, was founded in 2004 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. The AHCS
missions are to “[provide] a comprehensive high school curriculum,
individually designed to meet each student’s needs” and to
“integrate quality services and educational programs,
state-of-the-art technology, research-based curriculum development
and instructional practices into a dynamic, non-traditional
learning community.”
AHCS was using a system of technology to operate the school that
had been developed by a small locally-based provider. The system
was not user friendly, and suffered from several shortcomings,
including lack of quality customer service, unreliable data and
reporting, and constant overhaul causing interruptions in service
to students and families. The staff was frustrated and spent
a great deal of time finding makeshift solutions to counteract the
deficiencies in the technology. It became clear that the technology
was hindering their ability to pursue their mission.
In 2008, AHCS began searching for new technology that would
allow them to deliver a better experience to students, families,
and staff. The Provost Systems® integrated software suite
provided everything that AHCS needed, and more. Within 30 days, the
Provost Software Suite was installed and customized for AHCS, and
staff were being trained on the system. Included in the suite are a
student information system, grade book, attendance tool, family
communication portal, content delivery systems, and content
creation tools.
The result was a fully integrated, user-friendly application
that no longer required improvised run-around fixes, and actually
improved operations in several areas AHCS hadn’t been specifically
looking to improve. With the increased efficiency provided by the
Provost Software Suite, AHCS staff has been able to dedicate more
time to the needs of its students, and has spent less time dealing
with costly improvised solutions.
Parents and staff have found the Provost Software Suite user
friendly, and have been pleased by the helpful and quick response
of the Provost Customer Service and Engineering teams. AHCS
staff have also been impressed with the reporting capability of the
Provost Software Suite.
