Extended Education in action

Keeping it fun

All EdisonLearning™ Extended Education programs are designed to be engaging and even fun. Highly appealing content is essential to keeping attendance figures up, since after-school, summer school and tutoring programs are usually not mandatory. Another way to maximize attendance and build “buzz” around the Extended Education programs in our schools is to make use of program features and benefits that maximize both student recruitment and student retention.

With the right amount of relevant, age-appropriate incentives, attendance figures for Learning Force™ and Summer Journey™ are routinely excellent. For example, our 2008-2009 Extended Education programs include a themed promotion to encourage attitude, attendance, and achievement – the Three A’s Reward Program.

EdisonLearning Three A’s Reward Program

The Three A’s Reward Program is designed to improve student attendance and motivate engagement in class. Students are rewarded for having a good ATTITUDE, maintaining good ATTENDANCE, and demonstrating good classroom habits that lead to positive ACHIEVEMENT. Every Learning Force school receives custom-designed Three-A’s materials including:

  • The Three A’s chart – A durable, foldable chart displayed in the classroom that monitors students’ ATTITUDE, ATTENDANCE, and ACHIEVEMENT successes.

  • Attendance, Attitude, and Achievement stickers – Students monitor their successes by placing awarded stickers in designated areas on the Three A’s chart.

  • 10 Colorful EdisonLearning bracelets and Snapz charms – Unique EdisonLearning   charms are custom designed and awarded to students for achieving designated benchmarks on the Three A’s Chart. Students collect awarded Snapz charms on a colorful EdisonLearning bracelet.

  • 10 EdisonLearning backpacks – Branded eco-friendly drawstring backpacks are awarded to students for completing tasks like returning Individual Achievement Plans, returning emergency contact sheets, etc.

  • 10 Going Green bookmarks – EdisonLearning Going Green bookmarks offer students advice on ways to conserve energy and on the importance of recycling.

  • Prize drawing tickets – Prize drawing tickets are awarded to students for exhibiting positive Three-A’s behaviors. Drawings for nominal rewards are held periodically as an extra incentive for students to maintain success-oriented behaviors.

  • Reward Kit tote bag – The EdisonLearning branded Reward Kit tote bag serves as a convenient storage bag for the attendance chart, tickets, stickers, etc. Teachers keep the tote bag for personal use at the completion of the program.
