Great teachers are the key to a great education
As an EdisonLearning teacher, you’ll get to implement your
skills and passion for quality public education and your desire to
make a powerful difference in the lives of students. Pair that with
a school design that supports you to be successful in your
pursuits, and you’ve got a teaching career path like no other.
Through our recruitment and selection process we seek to hire
instructional staff members who characterize the Four
Cornerstones™ of highly effective schools, which form the
foundation of everything we do.
Top Talent
We’re looking for success in your own academic pursuits,
including achievement in college, teaching certification or
enrollment in an alternative certification program, and
content-area proficiency. We also want to know more about your
prior successes in the classroom and other education-related
professions, including awards you have received and leadership
roles you held at your school.
Culture of Engagement and Aspiration
We want teachers with the ability to promote learning and
responsibility, encourage creativity, and engage students in a
positive way. We’ll want to know more about how you manage your
classroom, engage students, and relate with parents,
administration, and colleagues. Whenever possible, we ask our top
candidates to teach a demonstration lesson at the school.
Demanding Content and Customized Instruction
You’ll need familiarity with implementing a research-based
curriculum and providing targeted instruction to meet the needs of
individual learners. Prior experience with our
curriculum is helpful. This may include:
- Open Court
- Success For All
- Choices in Literature
- Everyday Mathematics
- Prentice Hall Mathematics
- Delta Science
- Step Up to Writing
We also are interested to know if you have used inclusion for
special education and sheltered instruction for ESL.
Achievement-Driven Management
We look for experience using formative assessment data to
flexibly adjust instruction for the whole class, groups within a
class, or individual students.
EdisonLearning’s proprietary
Benchmark Assessment System provides teachers with an
electronic assessment tool in reading and math to check learning
progress against state standards. Our teachers are excited by the
capability to receive real-time feedback on their students’ skills,
and the ability to adjust their teaching quickly to meet student
needs.
